TEIS, an educational program for families with children ages birth through two years of age with disabilities and developmental delays.

In Tennessee, a child with a diagnosis from the list below, who meet the prematurity guidelines outlined below, or children whose evaluation results show they have a 25% delay in two developmental areas or a 40% delay in one area may be eligible for TEIS. A child may have a developmental delay if he or she is far behind other children their age in one or more of the five major skill areas:

  • motor (crawling, walking, using their hands to play)

  • communication (babbling, indicating wants and needs, talking)

  • cognitive (thinking skills including making choices and solving problems)

  • social (playing near or with other children or adults)

  • adaptive (taking care of one’s needs)

There is no cost for TEIS Services and they will see your child at your house or school. Once the child turns 3 they are transitioned out of TEIS. (Click the image above for more info)
